Penalty Kick Shootout
Place your shot, read the keeper and win a five-round shootout with curve, power and nerve.
About this game
Penalty Kick Shootout strips football down to its most tense moment. You aim at a corner, set the power bar and pick a curve direction; the goalkeeper dives the instant the ball leaves your foot. Five shots, and the keeper learns your pattern, so a shootout is as much about disguise as it is about accuracy.
Power is a genuine trade-off. A soft shot is easy for the keeper to reach but accurate; a full-power strike beats any dive but drifts wide if your aim is even slightly off. The best players hold a mid-power band and win with placement rather than brute force.
Curve is the answer to a keeper who guesses right. Bending the ball toward the far post after the dive has started beats a keeper who read the original direction — it converts a lost penalty into a goal, and it is the single highest-value skill in the game.
Shootouts last about two minutes. The score is cumulative across rounds, your best is saved locally, and the keeper’s reading difficulty steps up every round, so early shots should be your safest.
How to play
- Hold back from full power — a mid-power shot aimed at the side netting beats a maximum-power shot every time.
- Aim for the corners, never the middle: the keeper's default dive covers the centre of the goal.
- Add curve whenever you are unsure whether the keeper has read your direction.
- Keep your first two shots conservative; the keeper reads you less well before it has data.
- Vary your target corner every round — a repeated corner is an easy save.
Questions
How many shots per shootout?
Five, and the keeper's ability to read your direction improves after each one.
Does curve always beat the keeper?
No — curve helps when the keeper guessed your original direction, but it will not beat a dive that was already aimed at the far post.
Is there a time limit?
You have a few seconds per shot to set aim, power and curve before the kick is taken automatically.
Can I play a full season?
This version is a single shootout, but the score carries across rounds within a session.
