Word Scramble
Unjumble letters into words against the clock, find the hidden bonus word and protect your streak.
About this game
Word Scramble gives you a rack of shuffled letters and a timer. Every valid word you spell from those letters earns points; longer words earn disproportionately more, and using all the letters unlocks a bonus word that is worth far more than anything else on the rack.
The clock is the pressure. You have a fixed time per round, and the timer does not stop while you think, so the game rewards pattern recognition over careful deliberation. Common letter pairs — th, er, ing — are the fastest way in, and experienced players scan for them before they look at individual letters.
Streaks multiply your score. Spelling a valid word within a few seconds of the previous one keeps the streak alive; hesitating resets it. That mechanic pushes you to fire off short, safe words to keep the multiplier ticking rather than hunting for the perfect long answer.
Rounds last sixty seconds and there are no lives, so the only cost of a bad round is the round itself. Your best round score is stored on your device, and letter racks are randomised each time.
How to play
- Scan for common letter pairs first — th, er, in, ing — before you look at single letters.
- Play a short safe word as soon as you see one to keep the streak multiplier alive.
- Save the all-letters solution for a moment when the clock is nearly out; it is the biggest single score on the rack.
- Do not restart the round hoping for easier letters, the rack is always randomised anyway.
- Type with both hands and do not look at the keyboard — looking down costs two or three seconds per word.
Questions
How long is a round?
Sixty seconds, with no pause — the clock keeps running while you think.
What counts as a word?
Any standard dictionary word of three letters or more that can be built from the rack.
Is there a bonus for using all letters?
Yes, using the entire rack unlocks a bonus word worth considerably more than any partial answer.
What does the streak do?
Finding words in quick succession multiplies your score; a pause resets the multiplier to one.
