Snake Neon

Guide a neon snake around the grid, swallow glow orbs and grow without biting your own tail.

About this game

Snake Neon is the grid classic with a glow-up. You steer a three-segment snake and every orb you swallow adds one segment to the tail. The wall is fatal, your own body is fatal, and the space you have to work with shrinks with every orb — which means the difficulty curve is entirely self-inflicted.

The trick most new players miss is that speed increases as you grow. Every fourth orb trims about 4% off the step interval, so a snake that reaches fifteen segments moves noticeably faster than the one you started with. Circuits around the edge of the board become riskier while neat zig-zag lanes down the middle stay safe for far longer.

Swipe anywhere on the board to turn, or use the arrow keys. The next direction is buffered, which means a quick swipe-then-swipe combination during a tight corner will not kill you — the game remembers only the last direction you asked for.

Long runs unlock nothing and cost nothing: Snake Neon is a pure score chase, with the best result stored on your device so you can try to beat your own record later.

How to play

  1. Plan your turns one orb ahead — the tail follows exactly where you just were.
  2. Long straight runs are safer than tight loops once the snake passes ten segments.
  3. Use the buffered turn: swipe early for the next corner while the current path plays out.
  4. Leave the centre open early and work around the edges while the snake is short.
  5. When the board gets crowded, zig-zag in wide lanes rather than circling.

Questions

Does the snake get faster?

Yes. Every few orbs shorten the step interval, so the same route gets harder the longer you survive.

Can I move with the keyboard?

Arrow keys and WASD both work; swipes work on touch screens.

What ends the game?

Hitting a wall or your own body. There is no timer, so only your own choices end a run.

Is there a leaderboard?

Your personal best is stored on your device and shown in the top bar.
